Train Braking Analysis

The table below is an excerpt from a train braking analysis performed by James Loumiet of a Metrolink passenger train. Actual stopping tests of the train had been conducted and documented. The purpose of Mr. Loumiet's analysis was to demonstrate the ability to accurately simulate and calculate the braking performance of the train. For the test in question, the train braked to a stop in emergency braking from 83 mph in 2,264 feet. Mr. Loumiet's calculated braking distance from 83 mph was 2,306 feet, a difference of only 1.9%.
